Stop and Smell the Roses

“I just moved to Colorado!” photo

Here’s a sample of my next Breathful Moments book on 100 Days of the Deployment. The In-Season section is designed to having some healing humor, a breath meditation, and a gratitude practice. I hope you enjoy this sneak peak!

Healing Humor:

Here’s a real Mom joke for you today: What does a cloud wear under its raincoat?

THUNDERPANTS !!

Breath Meditation:

My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature.
— Claude Monet

Inhale: Noticing nature

Exhale: Quietly here now

Gratitude Practice:

Stop and smell the roses. Talking about the weather seems so trivial, but maybe there’s something to it. I chose to live in Colorado for the 300 days of sun; but we certainly experience all four seasons here with the occasional cloudy day, crazy winds, deluge afternoon rains, buckets of spring snow, and ridiculous hail. Today was a glorious morning of sunshine, so we did an outdoor breakfast picnic before daycare drop off. The reality is, noticing the weather keeps us in the present moment. Whether you live in the grayness of the midwest, like where I grew up, or the rainy days of Portland like my husband’s childhood home, there’s a present-ness associated with noticing the weather.

Outdoor breakfast!

Tell me about your weather today.

Practice Presence: Stop and smell the roses or the rain…
